TV movies don't have to be boring, but this one is. By now, the Amityville series has lost the claustrophobic creepiness of the first film and instead relies on tired haunted house clichés. (That is, who's going to get it next, and how?) Though the acting is passable, the directing is far too slow, and among the missteps there's not a scare to be found.

The .5 rating is to cover the plot that was hidden under some rather terrible acting . . . although at times glimmers shone through for each of the characters. What bothers me is I'm left wondering what happened to the plumber? Why was the grandmother never all that upset that those close to her actually die? And the cop never does come back to check on the girl! This movie was full of good ideas that were touched on but not much more. It felt extremely incomplete.

This is the third Amityville film I've seen, and though it's not as good as A New Generation, it's at least equal to The Demon. This film has a fairly good story and treats it with some degree of seriousness, but the problem lies in the fact that it isn't actually that scary. In fact, it's not scary at all. The characters aren't that interesting and really only the storyline, which is one of the better of the haunted house genre, saves it all. Another problem is in the fact that no one really dies except a few non-characters who speak a line or three. Overall, average entertainment but not for someone looking for plenty of scares.
