This compilation will appeal to those looking for background music for a Halloween haunted house or party, but won't come close to satisfying anyone who actually wants to listen to the real music. Like most or all albums of its kind (by that I mean "not recorded by the original artists"), Classic Horror Films suffers from arrangements that aren't quite right and musicians that seem to be not quite as capable as the ones who first recorded the music. (Then again, nothing can help an aged dog like the theme to Friday the 13th). Synthesized pieces like Tubular Bells and the theme to Halloween work pretty well, but works that require an orchestra, like the theme to and shower piece from Psycho, don't. And in none of the tracks will you find the tonal depth that is often featured in the original works.
