| Synopsis |

A hybrid of techno and orchestral music forming the score to the movie Event Horizon.

Event Horizon's combination of traditional instruments and techno works well, both suggesting the movie's combination of an almost traditional ghost story with a decidedly futuristic setting and using the synthesized noises' intrusion into the classical orchestration to suggest the movie's themes of intrusion. Now, that second observation's probably bullshit, but I like it. All told, though, much of the music is devoted to developing standard suspense; in the movie, it's fine, but on its own the score doesn't capture the intense creepiness and feeling of inevitable doom that pervaded the film. I have a feeling it's partially the driving nature of techno music, but the score just isn't creepy or original; Kamen and Orbital haven't done enough to make the listener uneasy.
