Halloween Havoc opens with a song that sounds like something parents think their kids might enjoy during a Halloween party. And some kids might like it, but probably only very young ones. Following the song is "The Dark-Net," a twenty minute story about the devil trying to take over the world via the internet. I think it's supposed to be a statement about the addicting potentialities of the digital age, but any positve effect is ruined by what I'd call a bad story. "The Dark-Net" just comes off as a strained effort to make a "cool" and relevant story for kids of Generation D--kids who are a good deal savvier on the subject than the writer of the story. And as for the rest of the album? Well, without going into too much detail about the fifty-one tracks of sound effects: some sound convincing, some do not. Maybe someone putting a compilation together or making accompaniment for a Halloween haunted house might find something of use here; I don't know. I do know there's not much for the rest of us.
