Halloween Sounds of Horror is, for the most part, just a collection of disconnected sounds, all associated (some more tenuously than others) with the idea of horror. To the credit of the people who created this album, however, they do try to come up with some new sounds, and at times play with around with stereo. One part of the album features the unnerving Penderecki-type strings that Kubrick used in The Shining. That part sounds suspiciously like a portion of K-Tel's Scary Sounds of Halloween, but nonetheless, if they had used music as effectively throughout the album as they did in that part, it might have been more of a success. That, and maybe they should reconsider having exactly a minute in the middle of the album feature the shocking sound of . . . dead silence.
