This collection of stories is amusing and well worth listening to on the way to a Halloween party in the first month of autumn. The Old Gray Goose's very New England accent presents some unintended laughs, but he relates the tales as befits a genuine storyteller. The album has trouble finding a consistent tone; though some of the stories would only amuse a child, others some (see track two) are violent enough that parents should give this a listen first. Parents should also give this a listen with the volume turned down, as the album's uneven mix sometimes lets sound effects drown out the narration. But the stories, specifically? Well, they're largely predictable and in some cases poorly paced--a couple of the stories seem to be going somewhere and then just stop (it only works on track six, a not-bad tale with a twist (let's call it that) ending. Skip track four, a song called "Oscar the Light-Headed Pumpkin," a cringingly bad song to the tune of "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer," and you've got a good time.
