This sequel doesn't have the magic of the original, which I suppose is almost a necessary evil, and it lacks the solid center of Virginia Madsen. Still, Tony Todd is great, the scares are pretty good, and I love the way Mardi Gras is interwoven into the story and atmosphere. This is one horror sequel that, for better or worse, really tried to put a different spin on the story laid down in the original, and wound up being a good film.

I think this is the best Candyman yet. This episode goes more in depth about the origin of the Candyman, whereas the first film dealth more with the present and not with the past. I have not seen #3 yet, but I'm praying it will be just as good. If you have not seen it yet and you like horror movies with not so much gore, but with a good storyline, then see this movie.
