Seen Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh? Then don't bother with this one. And if you haven't seen Farewell, then watch it instead, because Candyman: Day of the Dead is pretty much a copy of its predecessor, with parts of the first Candyman thrown in for good measure. Unfortunately, this cable-movie lacks the apocalyptic dread of the first film and the atmosphere of the second--and what does it have in the place of those elements? Donna D'Errico's not inconsiderable breasts. Even Tony Todd cannot help this film, though he's as good as he can be, delivering what have become tired Candyman-lines by this point. Day of the Dead has shattered Candyman's mirror. (Jul 22, 1999)
