Information
· Curse is composed largely of material reportedly first intended to be put in the theatrical release The Blair Witch Project. Word has it that this film--a pseudodocumentary account of the Blair Witch myth, including the disappearance of the three film students with whom we are so familiar--was going to be what was released into theaters the summer of '99. Then The Last Broadcast came along, and all of a sudden, the idea didn't seem quite as original any more. So the additional Blair Witch footage--everything but the three students in the woods--became a tie-in special on the Sci-Fi Channel. And wound up being just as good--maybe even better--than the film itself. Or so the story goes.

This is a great piece of pseudodocumentary, flawlessly concocting and presenting pro and con opinions, historical accounts, local testimony, and archival footage into a seamless whole. Curse of the Blair Witch is the best companion piece to a film I've ever seen; not only does it fit with the film, it enhances it to the point of being almost necessary (though both pieces can exist separately, in an interesting relationship). Well-made and nicely creepy.
