Adults beware--this is strictly for kids. The spirits in this film may well be restless, but they're also tangible and approachable, which deftly removes all tension from the picture. The overly-lit night scenes don't help, either. The plot twists are obvious, as are the characters, including the tried-and-true "bad guy" who would twirl his moustache if he wasn't, in this case, a teenage girl, and the "bad-guy-who-becomes-good" that you can spot from his very first appearance. The kid actors are eager enough, but I'm afraid I have to leave it with that and damn with faint praise. And does the protagonist's shirt say "egotesticle"? (Jul 24, 2001)
