This is not a horrible movie. In fact, there are a couple of moments that are suspenseful and even scary. However, the film is harmed (and significantly so) by its very deliberate pacing and its insistence on repetition. How many times do any of us want to see a guy look down a hallway, then duck into a room and look scared? Or walk up a flight of stairs, listening nervously? Once is fine, four or so times is overkill. Another problem with Dominique is that the film gives us several setups for great scares, but then never a payoff. And the one payoff we do get is after no setup, so it's pointless. Far too many missed opportunities. (Feb 8, 1999/Jan 6, 2000)
