It's a sequel. It's not as good as the original. But that's a given and thats forgivable. Hellbound is quite a strange movie in that it's hard to judge whether it's good or not. On watching it, you are presented with the usual amounts of blood and gore (ie, tons!) and it still has the surreal, dark and gothic tone of the first. The story moves and a quick pace and there are twists at every turn. Only when it's finished do you realise that you didn't really know what the story was. The plot seems to change every fifteen minutes, and a new threat keeps appearing. However, this doesn't seem to matter; the film flows smoothly and presents lots of gut-wrentching moments. This film is really hard to review--it really has to be experienced. You don't watch this film--you do indeed experience it. If you liked the first one, this shouldn't disappoint. This film's worth your time; other than that I can't say much more. This film provides equal amounts of pleasure and pain . . . (July 16, 2000) | ||||||
