Some pretty cool sets and a good performance from Annette Bening cannot provide this film with the substance it desperately needs. In fact, remove the parts about the submerged town (a really cool idea) and all you have is an innocent-person-psychically-linked-to-killer flick, and one that's more depressing than most. In fact, this is a joyless affair, one that also doesn't bother to help the audience understand it; even the psychic link that forms the core of the plot goes unexplained. (Oct 16, 1999) | ||||||
