| Synopsis |
|
In 1960, a group of kids manage to defeat the evil force that killed numerous children in their small city, a force that manifested itself as a menacing figure named Pennywise the Clown. Thirty years later, the same people are called back to face the creature again--except this time they have to kill it . . . or it will certainly kill them.

One of the best Stephen King adaptations, and one that rides high until almost the very end. The directing and acting are quite good, and the scares (provided both by the atmosphere and by the amazing Tim Curry as Pennywise) are impressive. Although the characters aren't as deep as they are in King's almost 1200 page novel, we get to like them, a feeling that is aided by several scenes that lighten the tension and show them as real people. And the music--a film noirish score by Richard Bellis--is outstanding.

I thought this film was well dictated from the novel it was well planned out and not ruched like other novels gone movie. It's made scary from the way the evil was formed in a normal usally fun and funny person to be around "A Clown", this to be scared the shit out of me the first time i watched it, and still gives me the creeps when i watch it now.. So well done to the film makers and to Stephen King for such a good novell...

I think this is one of the best horror movies out, a different kind of horror with comedy and suspense. Tim Curry gave an excellent performance as Pennywise. |

This movie was very scary. Currently I'm thirteen, but when I first watched this, it scared me a lot--now, I mean a lot--so if you're under twelve, I strongly suggest not renting this evil movie--or he'll get ya! Just kidding, take it easy, kids! It's pretty good, the best movie Stephen King did. Tim Curry is brilliant and gleeful, with his big smile covering his sharp teeth!

The acting isn't really anything special. I thought the children actors (and actress) were better than the adults, to tell the truth. And the directing, like the acting, isn't anything special. The plotline is what really drew me to this movie, though the first half was more interesting and suspenceful than the second. The movie could have used some work--if it had stayed a little closer to the book, it would have been better, even though the book is lengthy. Despite the lackluster acting and directing, Tim Curry was what really stood out--nobody could have played Pennywise better. This movie is still one of my favorites, and it never seems to get old.
