This film has a dated approach to the supernatural phenomena portrayed therein--seances and similar trappings, both faked and real, are portrayed much more believably in films like The Changeling and Haunted, not to mention Seance on a Wet Afternoon. The movie plays fast and loose with science, too, but if you can overlook such faults, Supernatural is a textured little piece, a good example of an early Hollywood ghost story. And Carole Lombard gives a great performance as the socialite (both while possessed and not possessed). (Mar 26, 2000) | ||||||
