During the American Civil War, the 44th division of the Union Army slaughtered a group of Confederate soldiers. When the modern-day 44th goes on training excercises on the same ground, they fall prey to an ancient revenge.

Although the film won't raise hairs on the back of your neck, it does have some nice touches that make it enjoyable. It's obvious that a little thought went into the phenomena in the film (it's not just the old "I just felt a chill" bit), and the characters are interesting, if underexplored. The ultimate cause of the haunting is a tad difficult to believe, but there are enough minor thrills to keep the film moving. (Aug 11, 1999) | ||||||
